fashion – brrr… it’s cold outside

Time to bundle up! It’s wet, windy, and cold! I love my jackets. They may be pricey, but trust me! When it comes to fighting Mother Nature, please just take the time to bundle up and buy warm, weather-friendly coats.

NORTHFACE – This may be a stereotypical Seattle label, but I am firm believer that this store – along with R.E.I. and Helly Hensen – know what they’re selling. Their specialty IS these amazing breathable jackets. My favorite and want this winter is the Women’s Deering Soft Shell Jacket ($349.00 + tax). The great thing about this label is sold online at several department store and often go on sale Labor Day weekends! So you might be able to snag a great deal if you know an employee, because they get 50% Northface products.

LULULEMON – Another Northwest favorite of mine! This label is made for women which I love. I hated how some jackets make us look “larger than life” and didn’t shape my body. This brand of clothing pre-washes their jackets that way they fit snuggle-tight on a woman’s body. It shows up our curves and is flattering to the women features. Yes, they do sell men’s jackets as well (so don’t worry men!). The prices usually start at $88 and go up to almost $300.

And quick vent of annoyance. If you’re going to be staying in cold/windy/wet area for a month or so, then please do invest some money in a good jacket. I makes me sad when I see people layering up… for four month in winter. Get the clue! Global warming will make our world colder, be prepared to feel the cold.

Welcome back to the blogging world indeed! I have a lot to write about but I’ll take it slowly and with one thought at a time.

Tonight, I saw the movie Couples Retreat. It’s a cute movie – especially to see as a first date movie. The story outlines four couples and their person struggles and joys in marriage. The movie does give a fair perspective of the typical marriage arguments and frustrations, but realistically, everyone goes through issues! In this particular movie, the solution for these group of couples is to spend a week to bond-retreat-relax as couples together. It sort of fits the America fast food trend of quick solutions to realities. It’s cute. (Sorry, for my sarcasm.)

I do believe that this movie does shine a realistic light on four popular couple scenarios. One particular couple – the cheating one – did strike me. The problem with their relationship is that they did not talk to each other. They did talk at each other, but hardly to each other.

I think that a lot of people in this world miss that essential gift. Communication is vital to connecting with others. Recently, I cannot help but emphasize this: We need to open ourselves to others. I have been helping out some friends out and even myself in understanding what happens and what is said in a conversation. Often, the problems happen when we limit the other person with our judgments. We miss the point. Something just gets in the way.

All we want is to be heard, right? We all have our point! and we want people to know it! But if we’re all talking, who will be listening?

I haven’t been blogging in awhile due to personal events. It’s been really busy. I have realized that diets are temporary excuse for me to stop eating or limit my portions. I ought to embrace my way of life and accept my body. I will do my best to stay healthy and I will always do my best to get into that body I desire.

Personally, I use food and exercise as my ways of coping and dealing with my problems and frustrating. I’ve gained a new love for biking. It passes my time, I can go fast, push myself to my limits, and it’s a great workout. I have the ability to reflect and think about several things in my life.

Right now, I’m in a place in my life of disbelief and shock. I am becoming an adult. With my birthday coming up, I am going to have to make more conscious choices and take on more responsiblites. It is a scary world out there. However, I am very fortunate to have the love and support of my family and friends. Thank God the summer grounds me to those I love and admire. These bonding times always lighten up my days and bring laughter to my life.

The people I am ever so gratiful for right now would be my high school friends. Our bond I know will last forever. We love each and have such a deep understanding of each other’s lives. We push each other to be better and fight for the better. But more than anything, we support each other in all we do. I love them!

Ice Age

This movie was absolutely adorable! I could not stop giggling at the cuteness and the adult jokes. “Why do you always say that you’ve got your back? It should be the front. That’s where all the fun is!” or “Guys don’t talk to guys about guy problems. They just… punch each other on the shoulder.” Absolutely worth it! If you haven’t seen the previous Ice Age Movies, that’s alright! It’s not that hard to figure out the characters and the storyline. It’s a whole new adventure and problems (mainly dealing with parenting).

GEORGE CHAKRA! Oh, I love your collection! The most simple angles and details are glamorize each piece of your collection. I was just looking over the Summer 2009 and Fall 2009. Oh! How I adore them especially because of the colors. The Summer 2009 first remind of UW colors (gold and purple) then you see the corals. The bright colors remind me of tropical water colors then into snowy creams. The collection appears to take you into the colors of the seasons or rather of memories. The bright warm colors faking into a icy white. Genius!

This is one of my favorite videos. I love all the outfits in this video. I’d never wear them nor own them ever but they are unique pieces that just have this “epic” tale to them.

This is my favorite one piece semi-swim suit. It looks like a superhero outfit. The lining of the suit is perfect for a petite body (like me!). High hip lining adds length to the legs and lengthens the waist/abs horizontally (which is great who are short and have no waist line). The bust cup’s lining follow a demi-bra shape. Tip I learned working retail: Demi-cup bras show off more natural cleavage than a push-up. A push-up is meant to just raise and uplift your boobs. However, a demi-cup simply suppose your boobs while exposing more boobage – this gives the illusion that you have bigger boobgs since more boob skin is showing.

This is the other dress in the video. It just looks so epic! I just love the shimmer and gold look. Not a fan though of that thich rope-like lining for the tube dress. It flattens your boobs! Not cool. But still watch the video, you’ll be inspired!

This is such a sad outfit for Jordan Sparks to wear. She is curvy and has a very hour-glass shape! This outfit brings her no justice to her and her body. Her bust line is minimized by this outift due to the straight (and harsh) lining of this jumpsuit. The belt is suppose to focus our eyes on her waist line and add those curves. Nope, it does nothing but distract us from the strange (and cheap looking) photo shoot set-up. With her hair pulled-back like that, you cannot help but just notice her bold shoulders. This album just brings her image down a notch.

However, take a moment to watch her video. (Click the picture) I love her dress by the second chorus. It’s an black evening A-line gown. The bold straps and semi-sweetheart shape bust line supports her full breasted area but still gives her curves. The A-line shape of the dress perfectly slims her stomach but allows her bust and butt to still be shown off. It’s a beautiful evening dress!

J.R.A. – All the Time

Found this guy on my cousin’s FB. I listened to a few of his videos. Not bad. I really liked the lyrics to this one.
